Successfully claimed close to S$ 1,000,000 for our client Mr Saimee Jumaat, one of Singapore’s foremost jockeys. 

We were successful at the High Court in mounting our arguments that Saimee’s financial advisors were negligent and that IPP Financial Advisors was vicariously liable.

Successfully obtained an acquittal at the High Court for our client who was facing the death penalty for  trafficking cannabis mixture. This acquittal was later upheld at the Court of Appeal.

We were successful in mounting our defence which rested entirely on the argument that the substance in our client’s possession did not fit the definitions of cannabis or cannabis mixture.

Successfully obtained an acquittal for our client at the Court of Appeal, reversing the decision of the High Court to sentence him to death for trafficking heroin.

We were successful in our appeal by showing that the alleged confession that the High Court had relied on had in fact been coerced from our client by a threat from the Police.

 

Successfully obtained an acquittal of all charges at the High Court for our client who was facing 5 charges of Rape.

We were successful in our defence by showing that the erectile dysfunction that our client suffered from made the complainant’s version of events unlikely. We were also able to, through rigorous cross-examination of the complainant, show that the complainant had likely consented to the sex.

Successfully obtained an acquittal of all charges for our client facing 4 charges of Assault. 

We were successful in our defence by showing that the maid had fabricated large parts of her evidence. This was done through rigorous cross-examination of the maid and through meticulous analysis of the evidence in the case.

 

Successfully obtained acquittal for our client at the Court of Appeal, reversing the decision of the High Court to sentence him to death for trafficking heroin.

We were successful in our appeal in showing that there was reasonable doubt that the bundles of heroin had been prepared by our client. This argument rested on the fact that our client’s fingerprints were only found on one of the ten bundles of heroin that had been allegedly trafficked.

We were successful in obtaining the lightest sentence for our client by distinguishing her involvement in the offence and by highlighting the mitigating factors in her favour.

Successfully obtained a reduction of the charge for our client from one of manslaughter to that of causing hurt.

In mitigating the circumstances of the offence we were also successful in persuading the court to call for a corrective training report.

Represented client against SCV in Singapore’s first ever case of Cable TV piracy.

 

Successfully obtained a reduction of the charge for our client from one with a mandatory death penalty to that of life imprisonment.

We were successful in persuading the Prosecution to reduce the charge that our client was facing from Section 4 of the Arms Offences Act which carried a mandatory death penalty to that of Section 3(3) of the Arms Offences Act.

 Successfully argued against two different rape offences being jointly tried.

We were successful in obtaining a separate trial for our client for both rape offences on the basis that the cases were distinct, each with its own set of witnesses. This ensured that there was limited prejudice against our client and that he had a fair trial for both the offences.
